COVID-19 Update: Custody Visitation and Stay-at-Home Order

Several clients have called or emailed to ask about whether visitation with their children will be suspended as a result of Mecklenburg County’s recent Stay at Home Order. The short answer is: No. Visitation should proceed as directed in your custody order. From the Mecklenburg County Communications Manager:

Travel required by law enforcement or court order, including to transport children pursuant to a custody agreement, is considered essential.

For further guidance, please read the guidelines at https://www.mecknc.gov/news/Documents/COVID-19-Stay-at-Home-FAQ.pdf

For additional questions about the Stay at Home Order, residents can call (704) 353-1926 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
